Milan Fitness was established in 2016. Our mission is to provided a professional service and create a inclusive and enjoyable environment that everyone would feel happy to be a part of.
We pride ourselves on getting to know what motivates our clients so that we can work together to achieve the desired result. Whether your goal is to: lose weight | tone up | gain muscle | increased levels of energy and confidence, we can provide you with the tools to achieve your goal.
Some people don’t feel confident exercising in a gym environment because of a number of reasons, they either feel out of place or they compare themselves with others around them (gym junkies). One of the things We are most proud about Milan Fitness as a gym is that it’s an inclusive environment that clients from all ages, genders and abilities feel happy to train in. We have a client that is 82 years old and has the energy of a 28 year old, I know that’s hard to believe but it’s true. There is something to be said about “if you don’t use it, you will lose it". We also have a client that is a professional athlete who competes in motorsport at national level but even though his training might be at a higher intensity it doesn’t phase other clients as the gym environment is always based on being a friendly and welcoming where clients build up good rapport with not only the trainers but with one another.
Tony Begovich – Director/ Personal Trainer
I started on my journey in the fitness industry back in 2003 where I study Sport Science in Aukland, New Zealand. I gain my Degree in 2006 but I had also been working in various part-time roles while I was studying. Such as, a trainer in a gym, in a sport arena as an operational coordinator and in a high performance sports team as a assistant strength and conditioning coach.
I travelled to the UK in 2007, like most kiwis (New Zealanders) do at some point in their life. I came over to play a bit of rugby and travel around Europe. 11 years on I’m still here and I have enjoyed the challenges that you face when living in a different country half way across the world. This experience has helped shaped me into the person I am today and it’s given me the confidence to be more outgoing and push the boundaries that sometimes we create in our own minds. I believe there is simple formula to success, work hard, back yourself and learn from others around you. The same principles can be used for improving your overall health and wellbeing.
What I love about my job is the opportunity to help clients achieve their personal health and fitness goals. It is very rewarding to see a transformation, not only in terms of physical levels of fitness but also watching them grow in confidence and developed positive outlook towards exercising and life in general.
Grant Anderson – Personal Trainer
Being active has always been a large part of my life. I get a great deal of enjoyment out of exercising whether it be within a team sport or just going out for a run. When I younger I took part in a wide range of sports such as swimming, tennis, football, athletics, but my main passion was, and still is rugby. I had the opportunity to experience high performance sport at an elite level playing professional rugby for Northampton. It was a great experience and one I will never forget but unfortunately my career was cut short due to serious injury. I can now look back at this injury which was once a negative experience and now see it as a learning opportunity in regard to rehabilitating injuries and I now uses this knowledge in my career to help clients from all different backgrounds achieve their goals.
I take real joy out of helping clients rehab injuries that have been causing them pain. I can relate to the feeling of being frustrated because you can’t exercise and experiencing discomfort caused by either impact or long term chronic injuries.
I’ve always taken great pride in rising to an challenge put in front of me and I believe that is why the competitive nature of sport fits well with my personality. I like the process of setting goals, creating a plan and then achieving the desired result. Whatever your goal is, whether it is climbing a mountain or being able to walk for 30 minutes without spotting, I believe you have to make a plan and it has to be measurable. I love seeing clients achieve something that they thought 3 or 4 months ago seem impossible. For me, personal training is all about supporting your clients, and for the clients it’s about being accountable to someone other than themselves.
